Thanks to all the volunteers and supporters who made this year's Codorus Creek Improvement Partnership Creek Cleanup another great success. This year we worked from Stevens Avenue (where some residents dump their trash into the creek), down around Small's Field to Willis Run, and up at Penn Street. In two days, 48 volunteers filled a forty-yard dumpster with tires, bikes, shopping carts, car parts, and everything that washes off the streets. Volunteers used grappling hooks and sheer will to bring these heavy items up out of the beautiful creek.
Thanks also for the generous lunches provided by Central Family Restaurant and North York Borough. Thanks also to the folks that donated services to make this happen: Watershed Alliance of York, Housing Authority of York, North York Borough, Zero Restriction Golf Outerwear, Gander Mountain, J&K Salvage, Culligan Water, Bear Portable Toilets, Dentsply, PPL and Glatfelter.
Most special thanks to Mr. Alloway's 4th Grade class at Sinking Springs Elementary in Central School District. These thoughtful young citizens collected $108.05 to support a healthy, clean Codorus. They are why we are doing this. It's up to us to make the Codorus the worthy centerpiece of the future York we are working to create.

Howdy Creek Folks!
I know it has been a while since you heard from us, but things are back up and running at CCIP! We had an Earth Day event where we labeled close to 100 storm drains around York City with the "Do Not Dump, Drains to River" plaques. We recently planted 80 young trees over at Kiwanis Lake to help with the Endangered Bird Habitat. We also helped track down the recent Kerosene spill on the Codorus and stopped several vendor stands from illegal dumping down storm drains at the York Street Fair.
And now its time for our Annual Codorus Creek Cleanup! Our Cleanup will be held on June 21st and 22nd, 9 to 5, in downtown York. We'll meet in York, at Small Field, behind the National Guard Armory on N George St. You can register any time after 9 am and work as long as you want. Parents must be there with their kids, at least to sign in and sign the liability waiver. Kids 8 to 13 should be accompanied by parents.
Please wear long pants, as there are some stinging nettles and poison around. Bring waders if you have them, we'll have a few pairs. We'll supply all the other gear, plus lunch being provided by Central Family Restaurant and the North York Boro. Please email or call if you can help with a pickup truck. :)
And please let us know if you or your business would like to help sponsor the event. Thanks, and can't wait to see you all again out on the Codorus!
See you along the Codorus,
~michael
