Hey Folks,
We got a lot done yesterday. In the morning, I got permission to use the colonial courthouse lawn for tables, and acoustic music for the Codorusfest, June 22nd. I reported a sewer pipe draining from Codorun Farms into the Codorus, and made another good connection with Brad Hanks, alternate SEO. Vanessa Baker, nessabaker@hotmail.com , organized a great education committee meeting at Border's. Members of CCIP, WAY and CCWA were represented. Alyssa Barron came to show us what educational programs were already offered by C-SAW and SMART. We decided to go for a fourth grade level presentation, specific to each school. This will be either a short walking program or some other method of relating kids to their own backyards and streams. If you would like to work on a program for a certain school, or have general interest in the education committee, please contact vanessa. The next meeting of the education committee will be April 24th, at 6:30 p.m., at Border's in York.
At the steering committee meeting, we voted in an ad hoc officers group. This will be active, until official elections in May. The results were:
Chairperson, Michael R Helfrich
Vice Chairperson, Dann Ottemiller
Treasurer, Beth LeFebvre
Secretary, Siobahn Hyser
If there are any questions about this, please e-mail me. We agreed to open a bank account, make CCIP tee-shirts, and make contact lists for the following four categories:
Desired meeting contacts,
Desired clean-up contacts,
Codorusfest sponsors, and
Codorusfest, community organizations(free)
Please, everyone, make lists and send them to me, so i can cross-reference and make sure we're not beating on the same doors. We all have different connections, and we should take advantage of this. We requested that the administration committee have, at a minimum, sample by-laws by next wednesday(steering meeting). We would like to read the by-laws this month, take nominees for board and officers in April, and have elections by May. We collected funds to start a checking account, and invest in shirts. We have a new committee e-group. This is a great tool to communicate with everyone at once.
We've added CCIP_Activities_Committee at Yahoo!Groups, a free, easy-to-use email group service. As a member of this group, you may send messages to the entire group using just one email address: CCIP_Activities_Committee@yahoogroups.com.
Yahoo! Groups also makes it easy to store photos and files, coordinate events, and more. Please check this out.
Yesterday, Murray Fisher, from the Waterkeeper Alliance was telling me how impressed he was with our website and logo. RFK, JR walked in the room, and Murray had to hang up with me, but our website was up when Bobby Kennedy, Jr was there. Thanks again to Beth and EdVW who have been working on logos and the web site.
And remember, send me contact lists of people you are comfortable with, or in the position to contact, or just think should be contacted. This will become the MAIN LINK between the Codorus and the community, and we all have something to share. Please send them to Codorusfest@highstream.net
See you along the Codorus,
Michael
