Position Description – Internship
Codorus Creek Improvement Partnership
11 West Philadelphia Street
York, PA 17401
717-848-1900

The Codorus Creek Improvement Partnership (CCIP) is a community-based, non-profit, environmental organization dedicated to restoring the Codorus Creek and other local water bodies to a condition that creates safe, healthy, enjoyable, prosperous, and sustainable communities for everyone. The CCIP believes that our community’s physical health, mental health, spiritual well being, future prosperity, and sustainability should be our highest priorities. York cannot progress without clean waterways.

CCIP is looking for energetic interns who can work a flexible schedule (approximately 10-15 hours a week), who are concerned about the environment, enjoy working with people and who are able to work at least a summer or a semester's length of time. The internship may be extended.

We are willing to work with any level college student. Majors which would best fit the internship include: Biology, Chemistry, Marketing, Public Relations, and Social Work, but we are open to others who may be interested in non-profit or service industries. The internship is not paid; however, there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience.

CCIP has internship opportunities in the following areas:

Water Quality Monitoring

· Collecting and analyzing water samples for specific chemicals.

· Collecting and identifying benthic macroinvertebrates (stream bugs) samples.

· Training volunteers in chemical and biological sampling and analysis.

· Entering data into appropriate databases.

· Interpreting environmental data and writing reports.

Promoting & Fundraising

· Assisting in the development of new promotional materials.

· Updating the CCIP website.

· Sending information to various media.

· Assisting with developing a fund raising campaign and specific fundraising events.

· Recruiting volunteers to assist with office work and special events throughout the year.

If you are interested in an internship with CCIP or have more questions, please contact Michael Helfrich (President) at codoruscreek@hotmail.com or 848-1900.
