The Codorus Creek Improvement Partnership invites the public to it's Third Anniversary Party and Meeting on January 27th. From 7 to 8 pm there will be a brief meeting and elections at the CCIP office, 11 W Philadelphia St. in York. At 8 pm we will be at Fisher's Restaurant, 19 N George St, for our anniversary party, including music from Danny Ottemiller of Hexbelt and others.
The Codorus Creek Improvement Partnership was organized to increase stewardship on the Codorus Creek. CCIP believes that it is possible to restore and revitalize the Codorus Creek and other local water bodies to a condition that creates safe, healthy, enjoyable, prosperous, and sustainable communities for everyone.
Below are a few of the activities sponsored by CCIP that contribute to the health of our community:
Annually, CCIP sponsors 3 major creek cleanups. CCIP and community volunteers have removed hundreds of tons of debris from the Codorus and her tributaries.
During Sunday Creek Strolls, volunteers pick up trash and assess the creek for pollution, an activity that has resulted in stopping over 20 illegal discharges into the Codorus.
CCIP's Education Committee, working with the Watershed Alliance of York (WAY) and Penn State-York, has taught more than a thousand children from 9 schools and 16 Scout Troops about watershed stewardship, helping schools meet the requirements mandated by the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Environment and Ecology.
